Happy Easter!

This morning I woke up to a fun surprise! It is Easter, and the Easter bunny had already stopped by to hide the Easter basket. I had a fun time opening my eggs, and then my family went to early church, and then to Grandma and Grandpa's for some yummy breakfast!

Happy Easter!

How to Build a Fort!

Today I built a fort under the kitchen table in our dining room. Not everyone may know the steps to building a quality fort, so I thought I would walk you through some of the basic fort buidling skills that I have recently acquired.

Step 1) Pick a strong frame to be the support for your fort. I used the dining room table, but
the front room table, or even a card table will do the trick.

Step 2) Make sure that you clear out all unessessary items from around the dining room that
may fall on your head while building fort (i.e. dishes, candles, chairs). These items are
hazardous and may take up too much fun time later if you try and skirt around this
step.

Step 3) Grab several high quality linens out of your parents linen closet. I have chosen a flannel
for my project, but cotton is a good substitute, especially as we approach the summer
months. Make sure that the fabric is not too heavy as to fall off of the frame support
once it has been laid in place.

Step 4) Lay the linen over the top of the frame, and make sure that there is enough fabric to
reach all the way down to the floor on every side of the frame. Then you will have an
enclosed fort that you can play in!

Come in and see what we have going on!

I have made enough room in my fort so that I can bring toys inside, such as my little people farm, and my wind up stuffed sheep. It is important to think about space before you start such a project.

You can also welcome invited guests into your fort. Dads, Moms, and dogs love to come and play in forts with you.

As you can see, I did a little customizing on this baby! I added a rain porch, which isn't entirely necessary considering I built this fort inside our house, but it looks good, and builds skills required to take this type of project to the out of doors.

No door needed, just simply crawl under the flap on any side of the fort.

I hope that this lesson has been helpful. Be creative, and enjoy the fun that a fort provides!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

With a name like Finnegan, and a wee bit of Irish heritage, I felt it very important that the family got together for a traditional Irish meal to celebrate St. Patrick's Day!

We got together at Grandma and Grandpa Powell's for some yummy corn beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots! We also got to hear stories from the Austin side of the family (Irish Heritage).

I stuck mostly to the green beans tonight (but they are green, and I am told that is an important element in the life of a leprechaun).

Traditional Irish meal.

I think that I get to go and pinch my parents now! Mom says that her eyes are green, and that counts as wearing green. We shall see about that!

O'Mallard's Day

After dinner, we went to celebrate another Irish... umm, I mean family tradition... ICE CREAM! I got to take my family out for ice cream at Mallards.

Look at all the flavors that we can choose from! I think that I am going to try... Vanilla.

I have my money ready mom. Tell me when to give it to them, ok mom?

Last time I was here, I was eating baby food... watching my parents eat the good stuff. Boy how times have changed.

I think that I have got the hang of it.

A little bit in my mouth...

... and A LOT of bit all around my mouth!

That is what it is all about!

If I try hard enough, I think that I can touch my toungue all the way to the bottom of the ice cream cone.

AHH... Life is good!

Happy O'Mallard's Day!

Dump Day-- Sweet 15!

Today I turn 15 months old! Today is also Friday which means my dad has the day off and we get to hang out together! So what do you suppose that we did to celebrate 15 months old and dad day off day?? We went to the DUMP! My first official trip.

It is a little cold out still, so we started off by getting our warm "duds" on.

I decided to wear my OSU Beavers camoflauge for the warm bottom layer!

And nothing better than my carhartt overalls for a day of tough work and a trip to the landfill.

I got in the backpack, and followed my dad up and down the hill as we loaded the wood pile into the truck.

I even sang songs to keep our mind off of the job at hand. My special little diddy right now is Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

A job well done, we even got the tie down strap on.

A little bit of the serious look that I have been working on lately. But hey, this is serious work, and now we need to get back to work.
Have a good weekend everyone!

More of the Ordinary

I know that I haven't posted many pictures and said hello lately :( We have been busy getting a lot of things done around the house with the basement remodel, but life has been clickin' on with lots of fun stuff. I thought I would post some pictures of one of my favorite hobbies...

I love to play in the tupperware cupboard! Mom and dad just can't pick up fast enough, and then I am back for the remodel job!

Depends... sometimes I decide to crawl all the way in the cabinet. Speaking of cabinets, I have mastered the baby locks on all the kitchen cabinets now, and am pretty good at getting all the doors open as well!

Just wanted to say hello ~ Finn
